Solution Architect (Full-time or Contract)

Solution Architects will help customers design and deploy high-performing applications and participate in pre and post sales activities related to application monitoring, diagnostics, and problem resolution. Well-rounded consultants will have the flexibility to perform roles that range from architecture assessments, "911/Firefighting", monitoring/diagnostics tools installation, custom software development, and systems integration.

In addition to technical acumen, qualified consultants will have the personality and presence to face clients and work with a variety of technical teams. Travel is required and engagements typically last 2 - 3 weeks, with return trips home and some flexibility for telecommuting. Additional opportunities exist to develop custom product integrations and help develop a new discipline in the software industry. Required Experience & Skills
- Demonstrated ability to design and architect enterprise applications
- Experience developing and deploying J2EE and/or .NET application components
- Knowledge of application server internals, including connection pools, resource mapping, clustering and server topologies
- Experience monitoring and diagnosing application performance and/or configuration issues
- Knowledge of Java Virtual Machine internals including class loading, threads, synchronization and garbage collection
- Experience interfacing with other teams outside of development such as configuration management, DBA's, project managers, and network operations staff
- Strong verbal presence coupled with tact and professionalism

Preferred Experience & Skills
- Previous role in pre- or post-sales
- Experience with load generation tools such as LoadRunner and/or Rational Performance Tester
- Experience with test-driven development methodologies
- Developed writing skills for research, white papers and product evaluations
- Experience training and/or mentoring other developers
- Strong ability to communicate with both tech and non-tech folks
- Engineering or C.S. degree
